But who does the quote apply to?

I just stumbled on a great quote, but it does it really apply universally?

The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.
Dorothy Parker

Lovely, really, but not always true.

Think of the two year old who has put his/her hand on top of a hot burner?
What about the kid who discovers the truth about Santa?
In my own life, the dog who can't wait to find out what new goodies are in the trash can.

I don't even want to go into politics ...

The truth about universally true statements is that they are always true - usually. Right?

Parker was something else.

I agree with her quote. I think we learn from what happens to us both pleasant and unpleasant. I like to think that our curiosity redirects itself to help us find our next adventure.
