Long ago and ever so far away, my father worked in his father's store.  One of his many jobs was to process the film that came in for developing. 

Because he had access to the chemicals and the dark room, he developed some of his own pictures, too. 

Knowing Dad it was probably a case of waste not, want not.

The long and short of it is that there are several pictures of his boyhood companion, King.

What's the poing and what is the gift?

The point is even today with digital images the photographer and developer (photoshopper, computer person, whatever) can and does have tremendous power.

While working on a project for a family friend yesterday, I again realized just how powerful an image is.  If it is cropped just so or if the lighting is enhanced, everything can and often does change.

The gift is perception - both given and received.
